Engineering Profile

About

I'm a Senior Software Engineer with a strong backend focus, working across software architecture, distributed systems, integrations, and data-intensive applications.

Over the years, I've moved between hands-on engineering, technical leadership, and building products from the ground up. I enjoy working on problems where software has to interact with real systems, external data, infrastructure, and evolving business requirements.

Building software systems

I started my career building vehicle-tracking software, working with GPS devices, telemetry data, geolocation, and web applications. That early exposure to systems that connected software with external devices and data shaped many of the problems I still enjoy working on today.

Since then, I've worked on enterprise applications, SaaS platforms, web crawling and data-ingestion systems, cloud services, integrations, APIs, and distributed architectures.

My strongest production experience today is in backend engineering, particularly with Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, and Google Cloud Platform. But I tend to think about systems beyond a single technology: how data moves through them, where boundaries should exist, how components fail, and how the architecture can evolve as requirements change.

Engineering beyond the code

I like staying close to implementation while also understanding the larger engineering problem.

In different roles, that has meant designing backend services, investigating production bottlenecks, evolving architectures, reviewing code, supporting other engineers, and working with product teams to turn business requirements into technical decisions.

I've also led engineering teams and squads while remaining hands-on. That experience reinforced an approach I value: architecture should help teams deliver reliable software, not become an objective by itself.

I prefer pragmatic solutions, explicit trade-offs, clear boundaries, and systems that can evolve without unnecessary complexity.

Expanding the toolbox

I continue to deliberately expand the tools and ideas I work with.

I'm currently using Python in data-ingestion and crawling projects, exploring Go for backend and systems-oriented development, and deepening my study of system design and distributed systems.

AI-assisted development has also become part of my day-to-day engineering workflow. I use coding agents to support implementation, refactoring, testing, debugging, code review, and exploration while keeping architecture, validation, and engineering decisions under human review.

Engineering Notes on this site are where I document some of what I'm studying and thinking about. Projects are where those ideas become working software.
